Marlene Le Roux, CEO and the first woman of colour to lead Cape Town’s largest theatre, the iconic Artscape Theatre Centre. From battling polio as a child to achieving international acclaim, Marlene’s story is a testament to resilience, passion, and the transformative power of the arts. Through her resilience and vision, Marlene has turned adversity into endless possibilities, using the arts as a powerful platform for change and upliftment.

  • Former Chairperson of the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation.
  • Member of the Presidential Working Group on Disability.
  • Recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the Shoprite/Checkers Woman of the Year (Art Category) and the French Knighthood in the Performing Arts.
